Hi,

After the page has loaded there is period in which IE, both 6 and 7, locks up. The page has already loaded but there is some kind of pre-processing taking place.

If this were to happen on the first load of the site only and subsequent loads were unaffected then it would be acceptable. Firefox has a delay but it is tiny and acceptable.

I have been trawling through the documentation but can find no mention of this,  how can this delay be removed or contained to first load only?

Here is a video demonstrating the problem.

Thanks,

Leon.

Hi Leon Mills,

Thank you for the video.

We managed to see the problem  and need to ask you some questions:
  • What is the way you populate your RadMenu?
  • What other Telerik controls you use?
Could you, please, send us a live URL, so we can test it locally?

Regards,
Yana

  • What is the way you populate your RadMenu?
In this instance it is databound to Dataset using the parentid feature
  • What other Telerik controls you use?
On the page? None.

I will set this up in about a couple of hours - post it here or to support?

Leon.

Hello Leon Mills,

This problem may be caused by having lots of menu items. Anyway, it would be better if you send us a sample project in a support ticket.

Here is a link to the menu.

Yes there are a lot of menu items but the disparity between FF and IE is huge.

Hello Leon,

We have done some further testing and we have found the reason for the problem. It turns out that an earlier change to the code is forcing full initialization of the menu. We have fixed this and the fix will be included in the next release.

Please, open a formal support ticket, so we can send you a hotfix. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi Paul,

I'm working with your sales staff to renew my subscription. I was out of town during the renwal period and missed the upgrade discount.  So - i'm waiting to hear back from sales on how to upgrade.

So ... as of right now, i can't open a ticket - but i soon will.  However, in the mean time, is there any way you can help a fellow developer who's been a great customer up until my renewal period (and i will be renewing!).

Cheers,

Gp.

Just get the latest build, you don't need a hotfix if you do that.
