Hi ,

I’m currently using the RadSpell checker in Telerik AJAX UI and specifically need a TDF (Telerik Dictionary Format) file to support the Latvian language. While researching, I came across mentions of a "Dictionary Configurator Tool" in some of your references, but I couldn’t find this tool in my installation package.

Additionally, I’d like to ask about the availability of TDF files for languages not included in the default installation.. Is there a way to obtain or create these files for unsupported languages? Any suggestions or resources you could provide would be really helpful.

Hi Emin,

To address your needs regarding the RadSpell checker and TDF files for additional languages like Latvian, Egyptian Arabic, or Iranian Persian, here are some steps and resources you can consider:

  • Dictionary Configurator Tool: The DictionaryConfigurator tool is not included in the default installation package but can be downloaded separately from my reply. You can create your own custom TDF dictionary using this tool. For more information and to download the tool, please refer to the following resource:

  • Creating Custom TDF Files: If you need a TDF file for a language that is not supported, you can create one by following these steps:

    1. Create a text file with a "word-per-line" format for all the words you want to include in your dictionary.
    2. Save the text file with Unicode (UTF-8 with signature) encoding.
    3. Rename the file extension from .txt to .tdf.
    4. Use the Dictionary Configurator tool to convert this file into a TDF format that can be used with the RadSpell checker.
  • Availability of TDF Files: Currently, Telerik provides dictionaries for English, French, and German by default. For other languages, you can check community-contributed dictionaries or create your own as described above. A list of available dictionaries can be found in this community forum: RadSpell Dictionaries.

  • Future Language Support: For languages not currently supported, creating your own dictionary is the best approach. If there is significant demand for certain languages, you might consider suggesting a feature request for future releases.

    Regards,
