How to bind detail table until expand data in master table

I have a detail table inside a master table, and both only include the template column with Eval<> function in each column. I bind the master table, and it will automatically bind data in the detail table. However, I don't want detail table to bind the data until I expand the each single data item in the master table. Is there a way to achieve this?
