Hide columns with EditForms mode

I am trying to hide specific columns for diferent roles.

The grid is using EditForms mode. With the generated form

What ever I try I can't get the field to not be displayed in the edit form.

If I try and add the columns when needed rather than hide them, then they don't appear as editable boxes in the edit form.
