Here is the code snippet to make the RadGrid in edit mode on an external button click.

C#:

protected void Button_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
    foreach (GridDataItem item in RadGrid1.MasterTableView.Items)
    {
        item.Edit = true;

}
