I'm looking at utilizing the scheduler control in a practice management system for appointment scheduling. I need to know if I would be able to do the following.
1. Find availability for a resource, i.e. "When is the first available appointment for a physician?".
2. Find availability for a date. i.e. "What do you have open for next Thursday?".
3. Implement scheduling conflict. Don't allow an appointment for the same resource for the same time on the same day.

Hey Sean:
I think you should lookup on Google a book called "SQL for Smarties" by Joe Celko. If I'm remembering right, he talks about a similar scheduling request (except it involved availability of Hotel Rooms and not physician appointments) and presents several solutions to achieve it. I have a copy of this book as well as "SQL Puzzels and Answers" also by Joe Celko, however they are packed away in storage as I recently moved.
Do some Googling on the above and see if a solution presents itself...

I appreciate the suggestion on Sql but I am pretty confident in my sql skillset. I know how to construct sql statements to get these answers from data but I am really just interested in the inherent capabilities of the control itself. I don't want to have to code the conflict resolution functionality if the control can do it for me.

You will probably agree with me that the first two business problems are outside the responsibilities of any visual component.
Regarding the conflicting use of resources:
RadScheduler can provide basic assistance. We have recently implemented an availability property on the Resource class. When this property is set, the resource is no longer visible in the built-in dialogs. We will provide an example that demonstrates this feature in the near future.
Still RadScheduler depends on your business logic to determine when a resource is available.
