Hello all--

I'm trying to get RadEditorMOSS Lite installed, and I'm running into a problem.

I have 3 servers in the farm: SQL cluster, SPS (web front end), and SPS-JI (application).

My admin console runs on SPS-JI.  I've tried adding the solution on SPS and SPS-JI with no luck.

I can add the solution using stsadm with no problem, but when I deploy the solution I get the following:
Name: radeditormoss.wsp
Type: Core Solution
Contains Web Application Resource: Yes
Contains Global Assembly: Yes
Contains Code Access Security Policy: No
Deployment Server Type: Front-end Web server
Deployment Status: Error
Deployed To: None

I've tried deploying to a single web (extranet.domain.com) and the entire installation with the same result.

I've looked in all the logs I can find, and the only reference to the solution is in C:\WINDOWS\system32\LogFiles\W3SVC1696564696\ex081002.log:
2008-10-02 17:28:38 W3SVC1696564696 192.168.192.168 GET /_admin/SolutionStatus.aspx ItemName=radeditormoss%2Ewsp&Lcid=0 46557 DOMAIN\Administrator 192.168.192.186 Mozilla/4.0+(compatible;+MSIE+7.0;+Windows+NT+5.2;+.NET+CLR+1.1.4322;+.NET+CLR+2.0.50727;+.NET+CLR+3.0.04506.30;+.NET+CLR+3.0.04506.648) 200 0 0

I do not see anything in the event logs for either server...

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Joe

Hi Joseph,

Thank you for the provided information, but unfortunately it is not sufficient for me to determine what the exact reason for the problem is. Could you please hover or click on the error sign and send me the complete error details? I will check them and do my best to provide a solution.

Looking forward to hearing from you,
George

Hi George-

Thanks for the reply.

In the table below, the only link is the solution name.  The word 'error' is not a link, just text so if I hover over it nothing pops up, and the cursor is the standard text I beam.
This page has a list of the Solutions in the farm.
Name Status Deployed To
radeditormoss.wsp Error None

When I click the link for the solution name, I get the following, all of which is straight text and not clickable, nor do I get any pop-ups detailing the error:

Back to Solutions

Name: radeditormoss.wsp
Type: Core Solution
Contains Web Application Resource: Yes
Contains Global Assembly: Yes
Contains Code Access Security Policy: No
Deployment Server Type: Front-end Web server
Deployment Status: Error
Deployed To: None

Thanks,
Joe

Hello Joe,

It will be difficult for us to help you when we do not know the error details. I can only offer you some general suggestions:

- try rebooting the server and then deploying the solution again
- try deploying the solution manually. Open a command prompt and type:

stsadm -o deploysolution -name RadEditorMOSS.wsp -immediate -allcontenturls -allowgacdeployment

(the stsadm executable is located at c:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\bin\ )

- try a google search to see if there is any way to get the error details from a failed deployment job. I think that c:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\LOGS\ should contain some useful information, although I am not sure which server will log the error details - SPS-JI where the central administration is running or SPS where the solution should be deployed.

Kind regards,
