Hello,

I've seen, that there are the new releases available. But which of them is the new RadControls ASP.NET and successor of Prometheus?

In The Free Trials Section there are 2 different items:
"RadControls Prometheus" and "RadControls for ASP.NET"

BOTH with release date 4/15/2008. I thought only the (formerly) Prometheus would change in to Q1-2008?

Sorry, but I'm a bit confused.

With kind regards

Philip

Edit: ok, I now understand it. I thought ASP.NET should be replaced by Prometheus/ASP.NET AJAX, not that they will coexist. Sorry!

Hello Philip,

RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX (formerly "Prometheus") is the new generation of web controls from Telerik. This is the suite which from now on will receive new products, new features and significant improvements. The are great new additions in this suite as of Q1 - see a summary here:http://www.telerik.com/products/aspnet-prometheus/whats-new.aspx

However, the introduction of the RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX controls will not affect Telerik’s support for the existing RadControls for ASP.NET. They will continue to be fully supported. The new releases of the classic ASP.NET controls will not be mirror versions of their RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX counterparts, as there are features which will be very hard or impossible to implement due to the underlying architectural differences in the two UI suites. The updates in RadControls for ASP.NET "Classic" will be mostly bug-fixes and minor improvements.

We know that large projects do not have the luxury of quickly adopting a new control suite or product framework. We are committed to offering support for existing RadControls for ASP.NET and helping you make plans to transition your projects over the next months.

All the best,
Ivo
