can't change menu animation

I've applied custom styling to the rad menu for a sitefinity installation, but I've encountered a problem. No matter what I try and set for animation settings in the radmenu control, it always expands really slowly. I've tried setting a different type of animation, as well as different speeds from 5000 down to 5 and even zero but nothing happens, it always expands very slowly... is there somewhere else I need to change this setting?

never mind I took it out of the template and put it directly on the page and now it works. seems like a bug to me?
