Apply Client side CSS in EditMode to RadNumericTextBox

I am looking to apply a different style to a grid item depending on user input.  My grid is automatically in full edit mode.  I tried to set the class name of the RadNumericTextBox in the client-side Blur event but it was not working for me.  If anyone has done this can they point me in the right direction?
