Allow only one appointment per timeslot

I am in resourceview with timeline. I want to prevent user from entering two appointments in a given timeslot for the same resource. how can I force him not to enter  two appoinment for the same time timeslot?
Also when there are is an appointment present in a row, the height of that row increases. How can I prevent that from happenning? please help. Thanks in advance.
