    A Visit from DotNetRocks

Recently Carl Franklin and Richard Campbell of DotNetRocks made a slight detour in their Visual Studio 2012 Launch Road Trip to visit Telerik’s Hudson, Ohio offices (just after a previous “detour” to DevReach in Bulgaria).  The dynamic duo were on their way from Pittsburgh to Toronto, and Hudson is not too far out of the way along that route. You can continue to track their road trip progress in real time at http://dnrroadshow.cloudapp.net/.  In addition to seeing where they are, you’ll also find related tweets along the way, like these: Once the RV pulled up, we treated the DNR crew to some barbecue, which everyone...

    RadAutoCompleteBox–An Annotated Demo

In our Q3 Webinar, I demonstrated the RadAutoCompleteBox, Telerik's Silverlight AutoCompleteBox, part of the RadControls for Silverlight and WPF.  In this blog post, I will walk through that demo in detail.  The demo itself is extracted and simplified from the QSF demo that downloads with the RadControls for Silverlight and WPF. To begin, create a new project of type RadControls WPF Application and name it AutoCompleteBoxDemo. In the Project Configuration Wizard select Telerik.Windows.Controls.Input.  Like nearly all interesting projects, it starts with data; in this case a set of Songs and their “Authors.”  To start, right click on the project and add...

    JustCode Keyboard Shortcuts Profiles

Most of the commands in Telerik JustCode are assigned keyboard shortcuts, granting the speed and convenience you expect from a quality productivity tool. This is, of course, a very important and often overlooked feature. For Q3 2012, we decided to improve the way in which JustCode approaches shortcuts by creating keyboard shortcuts profiles and related enhancements. The purpose of JustCode’s keyboard shortcuts profiles Before the introduction of keyboard shortcuts profiles, JustCode only had one predefined set of shortcuts for its commands. Visual Studio silently applied these shortcuts during its first execution after the installation of JustCode. This behavior proved to be inconvenient to many...

Uploading Files with Telerik’s ASP.NET Async Upload Control More Flexible than Ever

Following closely our customers’ feature requests and the latest browser implementations concerning the Html5 FileApi, we keep on our development tradition by adding to Telerik’s ASP.NET Async Upload five new features and support for uploading files in iPad/iPhone iOS. Drag-and-Drop From Q3.2012 RadAsyncUpload supports uploading files by dropping them not only over the upload itself but also over different DropZones on the page. This is easily achieved by setting the DropZones property which lists CSS selectors (with comma separators) allowing users to have a more intuitive functionality. More details can be found in this demo. Manual Upload  Another functionality that provides more flexibility in the process of...

This month is a big one for Microsoft developers. Windows 8 will be generally available in stores on a variety of form factors starting on 10/26, with the BUILD conference following closely in the last week of October. This on top of the Visual Studio 2012 RTM earlier this summer and a Windows Phone 8 release coming soon, and there's a lot going on if you're a Windows developer. If you've read my previous editor's notes this year, you already know that Telerik takes Windows 8 and Visual Studio 2012 very seriously.
