Hi,

I have installed Lite RadEditor (4.4.0.0) for WSS 3.0. It works amazingly well, and I would like to take this occasion to thank Telerik for this.

I just have one small issue:
When I create a list, I can define the number of lines per field, but it would seem that RadEditor does not respect this information and always puts the same window size across all fields and lists.
The second issue is within Wikis where RadEditor gives me a very small window to edit text which as you can imagine, my users find quiet disturbing.

I have changed the Height and Width in the ListConfigFile.xml but the issue is that it means that it still does not follow the number of lines defined in each of the fields and secondly, as the width and height are common to Wikis and other Lists such as tasks, this is really not a solution as you can imagine.

Is there a way to have RadEditor to behave the same way as the WSS Editor?
If not, how can I define different window sizes depending on whether I'm editing a list (such as Tasks) or a Wiki?
And better, could I get when editing Wikis, the window to take all the space it can in IE?

Thanks in advance for your help,

Antoine

Hello Antoine,

Thank you for this report. We are aware of this problem, but unfortunately it is not something we can fix easily. The problem is that the original editor uses a normal textarea as a base. The textarea uses the rows and cols attributes (number of rows and columns), while our editor uses width and height (in pixels).

We have implemented automatic resizing, depending on the number of rows property of the original field , but the conversion is not pixel perfect. In most cases (Wikis included) the editor will occupy the same space as the original rich text editing control. The automatic resizing fix will be included in the next editor release.

Best wishes,
Lini

Thanks for the reply.

Any idea when the next version will be released?

I guess this issue is the same in the full version?

Is there a way to give one size for the lists and one size for the Wiki?

Thanks in advance,

Antoine

Hello Antoine,

We have already fixed the problem in our internal builds and we are planning to release the update in the next week.

Yes, this problem is present in the standard version and will be fixed there as well. As for setting different sizes, I am afraid currently this is not possible. We will try to improve on that in the future.

Sincerely yours,

Hi,

I downloaded the RadEditor MOSS Edition and tried it in my development environment.  It installed and activated fine but for one small problem.  The editor is not resizable.  Is there any setting I need to change to get the ability to dynamically resize the editor frame.?

cheers

Hi Karthik,

Could you confirm exactly which version of RadEditor for MOSS you deployed and in what scenario you are using it. Is it WCM, webpart or list (list, wiki, blog ...) scenario?

Hello Karthik,

If you are using the Lite version of RadEditor for MOSS, you should know that the resizing is not support by it. This functionality is enabled in the Full ASP.NET AJAX version of RadEditor for MOSS 5.x.

Hi Stanimir,

Thanks for your response.  Yes, I first tried the RadEditor for Moss Lite.  Then I downloaded the trial version of RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX and am trying to deploy it and use it in MOSS.  I am for now only interested in using it with List forms, i.e. NewForm.aspx, editForm.aspx, etc.

So 2 questions for you...
1. Does dynamic resizing of the editor work in List Forms?
2. Can I get it working using the trial version?

I need to demo it to my client for getting an approval to purchase this product.

regards
Karthik

Hello Karthik,

You need to download the trial version of RadEditor for MOSS 5.7.0. In order to do this go to Home  /  Your Account  /  Free Trials  /  RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX section of http://www.telerik.com under your account. Download the RadEditor for MOSS: (zip, 14 MB) installation. For your convenience I attached a screen shot where you can see the download link.

In addition review the following online help articles.
Upgrade Instructions from version 4.x to version 5.x
Extending your MOSS site with Microsoft ASP.NET AJAX 1.0 or Extending your MOSS site with Microsoft ASP.NET AJAX 3.5

All the best,
