Hi there,

I am trying the SPRadListView Web part. I can bind a SP List without problems but for some reason I can't create a detail binding. I have the "+" button always gray out so I can't bind a child list.

What is the condition for enabling the button?

Hello,

The RadListView control does not support detailed binding. That is why this option is disabled in the designer of the web part. If you need hierarchical structure you can use the SPRadGrid web part.

I am using also SPRadGrid but with the same result. I am using always a SahrePoint source not an SQL Server source.

I have my SPRadGrid already in a page, if I choose edit the web part I can select the List Source which is what I need but after that I select a SPList I can't get any row shown.

If I choose SPGrid Designer I get the designer pop up window and it shows as "SPRadListView Designer" which is kind of weird because I am working with a SPRadGrid. But after I select one list from the SPList node it doesn't show up either. So the only way I can get a SP List content shown is if I use the SPRadList View.

Please advice.

Hello,

Please verify that you are using the latest version of Telerik Sharepoint Acceleration Kit  since similar issues with the designer have solved there. Also you can check whether using only a single web part on the page (without mixing both SPRadGrid and SPRadListView web parts) makes a difference.

Hi Marin,

Thanks for your prompt answer.

In fact the version that I have is the last available at this time which is 11.1.316.0. I re installed it and continue getting the same issue.

I took out the SPRadListView and now I can have the grid working. Which is not a good thing for me as I was thinking in having two grids in the same page and also connected. Anyways I have the grid working but it certainly is not the  same experience that I can see in the demo video.

First of all the designer window act very wierd it is not easy to handle or rezise.and sometimes is hard to see the save button.

Second I notice that sometimes re-open the designer don't show me the detail grid even when it is shown in the page.

Also I can't control the size of the grid. I can edit the web part set up the heigh ,but the grid do not expand it keeps the same size. I also can not control how many rows to be shown per page.

It seems to me like this product is far from a typical telerik product. Can you please tell me what could I expect from this components in the near future?
Thanks

Hello Willy,

We are actively working on the Sharepoint Acceleration Kit at the moment and lots of new improvements are coming in the near future so we highly appreciate any customer feedback in order to improve the quality of our products.
As for the above mentioned issues with the grid designer, we will need a little more time in order to investigate them completely and provide you with appropriate answer.
I will get back to you as soon as possible.
Please excuse us for the delay.

Hi Willy,

I checked the scenario with SPRadGrid and SPRadListView web parts on one page and the designers looked consistent on my end. There was no interference between them, and the option for adding details table was only available for the SPRadGrid web part.
In the current version of the Sharepoint Acceleration Kit the web part designer has some limitations.
The default size of the designer window is 1200x800px but you can easily resize it by dragging its edges. You can check this in our SP demo site.
The setting of the grid are not reflected back on the designer of the web part, that is why do not see the details table even if it configured on the grid. This is another feature which we have in mind for implementation in future versions of the kit.
Also the current version of the designer does not allow setting page size and dimensions of the grid so for now you will need to add those setting manually in the markup.
This is our first major release of this product line so lots of new features and improvements are coming on the way.

Thanks Marin for your answer.

I understand that the kit is under intense work so I just reported my experiences just to provide feed back I am quite sure that you guys will come up with something awesome like always.

Regarding the interference between SPRadGrid and SPRadListView what happened to me was that after following your suggestion and taken out the SPRadListView then my SPRadGrid started to work (?) but I didn’t put it back to see what happens, so disregard this point.

Now, regarding the Designer window I saw the demo site but I don’t have the same experience when I use it with IE 9. I assume that this also will be fixed.

So I will wait until the next build is available and will try again and see how things go.

Thanks
