I have been going through the forums pretty heavily lately trying to figure out how to achieve results for issues that are not covered in the demos. In addition, it looks like a large majority of the users on this forum are doing exactly the same thing. One issue for example is how to modify the properties of the popup window for openeng files on the file explorer, or adding required field validators to the upload control. Telerik employees suggest lots of solutions, as well as posting coding examples, but these examples never seem to get added to the demos. It seems like it would be a huge time savings for us as users as well as the employees who have to handle the forum posts and the support tickets if the demos section was expanded. I was just wondering why Telerik does not expand on the demos section with a lot of these things. Do you have any plans to add additional demos to show how to do lots of the things people are most asking about?

Hi Jim,

Basically, the main idea of the demos is to show the main functionality of the controls. Yes, our controls can be used in much more complex scenarios, but it would be much harder for a developer, that is just starting to use these controls, to get acquainted with them.

For example, take a look at the following RadWindow demos:
First Look
RadWindow and MDI

Both demos are basically showing similar functionality - controlling the appearance of a RadWindow by using RadTabStrip. The first example is a relatively simple one with only basic functionality implemented in it - you click on a tabstrip item and the corresponding window is shown.
The second example, however, is much more complicated - now multiple simultaneously opened RadWindows are supported, they are opened by clicking on items in RadMenu, RadWindows can be minimized, maximized, etc. The demo's code is much more complex (compared to first demo's code) and it is much harder for "newcomers" to understand it.

Regarding your last question - yes - the demos that we create are based on customer's feedback. In fact, the MDI demo, that I linked above, was created exactly because we've had many customers trying to create MDI with RadWindow.

Let us know if you need any additional information or you have suggestions about the demos that you would like to see on our site - we will be glad to discuss it with you.
