Yes,
I like Telerik Reporting very much. It is lifesaver for developer. But what to do if customer don't care. They just need justification. They cannot live without it. It is one of most important features for end customer. Internal Report can leave without it, but not customer who are paying you for solution and look they like.

Hello,

This forum thread will give you a better look on our considerations for not adding the feature yet: Justifying textbox text.

Our suggestion in cases justifying text is a must is to post-process the result document e.g. using AJAX RadEditor or Silverlight RadRichTextBox where you can import a document of specific format and work with it. You are free to use any other text processing tool to accomplish the same task.

Hell Stef,
Me as developer understands you. Like I was written, as developer I love Telerik Reporting. However, I already created many Reporting Solutions, based on differnet Reporting engines, e.g. SQL Reporting, which are quite simple to implement, and 3 times on 5 I ended with crapy Crystal Reports Visual Studio Edition, with no support, just because of lack of justification. Because this is the only feature customer want. They want justification, don't care about developer time and implementation time. I already had to redesign already implemented solution, only because of justification. This was always the only reason of change.

Hello Marcin,

We understand the need of such feature and consider having it. As you can see there is a long discussion stating the pros and cons, and the reason why there is no justify alignment in Telerik Reporting yet.

For now please try using a third party tool to post process the report documents or use our editors - AJAX RadEditor or Silverlight RadRichTextBox - which can also produce documents and apply justify on the text elements.

Stef

I don't think you do understand the need I would like to be able to use your solution but justification is the limiting factor in my decision. I am being forced down the road of devexpress because of the lack of Justify.

Its all well and good to say we can use other products but I am joining several reports depending on parameters and producing in a batch about 30,000.

There is no way I'm going to slow down our systems to the extent of post processing when you should have that as a priority.

Your internal reports might not need it but when we are sending to customers management have specifically told us to have all text justified.

This is particularly irritating having to have two different products on our systems.

Please fix this so I can buy your product.

Hi Joe,

I believe we discussed the question in your other thread. We understand your scenario and others including such requirement and we apologize for the caused inconvenience. This is a quote from my post in it:
"The feature is not supported currently and having it most probably would not happen in the near future. The suggested controls also provide options to create PDF documents automatically by defining a document definition and using the options for export from code - no need of post processing if the document is defined as for use with the controls only. Even if you are creating report definitions, you will have to define a document structure, which is the same as building a RadDocument for instance.  Please give them a try."

Note that the feature is not excluded from our future To-Do list.

Hi Joe,

Can you give us an example on how to post process the report documents to justify text using the AJAX RadEditor as you mentioned in this post?

Yes, If we can use RadEditor as report viewer with justify, I would to see the example.
Also it would be good to see HTML5 editor in similar way as rad viewer.

Hello,

The suggestion implies the report will be exported into RTf format, which can be interpreted and read in the AJAX RadEditor, where the editor supports modifications an export to specific formats.

Hi Stef,

thanks for forwarding me to this post, BUT, this is not a solution for me. I've tried already what you guys discussed, when I export the report to RTF or DOCX format, a lot of styling just simply disappeared, and this makes things worse. The only possible solution for me could be exporting the report to PDF format and opening the pdf report for formatting, but the exported PDF format report is jsut simply a flat structure without any standard PDF fields defined, and this is no way to locate or find any element you need to format. Frankly say, I've done a very deep research on these stuff.

SUM IT UP: if the exported pdf report is not jsut simply a flat pdf file, I could habe the solution for the formatting. Any idea to export the report with pdf fields and form elements?

Telerik Reporting is great, but still a lot of things are disappointing.
