Hi Marc,
The image gallery does not offer official support for SVG img files.
I tested it and noticed that the svg images are actually displayed in the tooltips: https://www.screencast.com/t/SDx8h21qJ.
I used the following online converted to convert png files to svg:

http://image.online-convert.com/convert-to-svg
