Hello,

I just had a look at the PivotGrid control - so far it looks quite good. My question is: How can I display data in the Grid that comes from a Sql Server Analysis Services cube?

Thanks for your reply!

Hello Volker,

The RadPivotGrid does not support SSAS, but we are planning to integrate it in the Q1 2013 release.

All the best,

Hi Galin,

Now that OLAP support has been added, to go back to Volkerā€™s question.  How can I display data in the Grid that comes from a Sql Server Analysis Services cube?

I have looked through the AJAX documentation http://www.telerik.com/help/aspnet-ajax/pivotgrid-olap-support.html but still cannot figure out how to connect to my OLAP cube.

Is there some straight forward instructions on how this is done that could be forwarded along?

I would really like to use ADOMD but can't get either method to go.

Thanks

Hello Gary,

I am afraid the RadPivotGrid currently does not support MDX queries. Please use the connection as it is showed in the demo page.

Hi,

Same problem for me. I cannot connect the Pivot Grid to SSAS using AdoMD (using the 2013 Q1 release). Neither can I figure out how to diagnose this issue -- how can I attach to an error handler or so?

Thanks, Daniƫl

Hi Daniel,

Unfortunately the current version of the RadPivotGrid does not have mechanism for handling errors from the OLAP servers; however I will forward this requirement to our developers for further considerations. At a meantime please note that you need to be sure that you have correct definition of your connection string:
<AdomdConnectionSettings Cube="Adventure Works" DataBase="Adventure Works DW 2008R2"  ConnectionString="Data Source=http://demos.telerik.com/olap/msmdpump.dll;Catalog=Adventure Works DW 2008R2">
</AdomdConnectionSettings>

Note that the name of the DB is set to Database and in the ConnectionString as Catalog. You need declared it on both places.
Also could you please verify that you have Microsoft.AnalysisServices library into the bin folder of the application.

Kind regards,
Radoslav
