Please add functionality to render RadCombo in standard HTML select and option tags. The control needs to degrade to user the mobile devices web browser UI as designed for device. Droid, IPhone and many others have specifically designed thier browser to display drop downs allowing easy and intuitive picking, display and selection. Telerik design does not allow ability to degrade to HTML Select and Option tags to use mobile device browser. Allow the option to degrade even if it disables Telerik options of load on demand, auto scrolling, etc. It is important for Telerik to allow ths for developers to write one UI to work on many devices using XHTML standards. The developer can global enable the degrade option as needed. We have a large and important customer base that is embracing smartphones and tablets for standard business operations. Respectfully, Tre.

Hello Orin,

We are considering this possibility as part of our ongoing effort to provide better compatibility with mobile browsers. What is preventing us for implementing this now is RadComboBox' architecture. In this sense we will be working on improving it to allow for switching between the two renderings during this Q.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Greetings,

What is the status of this issue. Has the ComboBox rendering been improved to output classical HTML dropdown for mobile browsers? It is imperative that a decision maker contact me on this. Please Google ANDROID US ARMY. The United States ARMY is embracing smartphones and Android developed applications. For Telerik Web browser AJAX controls to work best for smartphones, it needs to switch back to classic. Currently, a Telerik combobox with any load on demand or autocomplete, when click, brings up keyboard and thus blocks most of screen. I sit on the standards committee and Telerik is lacking in this specific area.

Hello Orin Book,

Unfortunately we weren't able to implement this feature although it was highly demanded and was in our plans. It is still planned and is going up the priority ladder, so we will do our best to implement it in the near future (officially in the next service pack; unofficially in an internal build).

Please excuse us for the inconvenience the lack of the feature may be causing to you.

Kind regards,
Simon

We sit on the US ARMY steering committee for its mobile military support. Telerik will be placed on the do not use list because of this issue. The ARMY has officially adopted the Android platform for soldiers in the field. This is a major technology commitment which other services are following. Its platforms are smartphones, tablets and other devices. After repeated requests asking you to provide a method to degrade the combobox to HTML select, as an OPTION, we have no choice but to recommend this control not to be used to the entire committee and developer community. You have stuck by your guns stating the functionality loss is why you can not do this. We wanted an option to change the rendering method to a basic HTML select knowing these issues and loss of functionality.
