Hi,

Nor sure if this is possible or not.  I am evaluating RadScheduler to replace another scheduling component and most things are better, but what I do need is the ability on a Day view to click into a time slot, drag down to a later time slot and then, when the mouse button is released open the appointment window with the start and finish times already defined.

What I need to know is, is this possible in the current release of RadScheduler, or is it planned for a future release?

Hi David,

Thank you for your interest in RadScheduler.

No, this is not possible currently. I have logged your request and if there is an increased demand for such feature we will implement it.

As far as I understand, you need to be able to visually determine the time span of an appointment. This can still be achieved with the resizing ability of the appointments. You can simple double click a time slot, enter the subject and insert the appointment. Then you can resize or drag the appointment to adjust the start and end time. Let us know what you think.

Hi Peter,

Thanks for the prompt reply.

Although the Appointments can be resized after entry, my existing Clients are already using my system whereby they can click, drag over a number of time slots, release and open the Appointment window with the time already defined.  At the moment if I upgraded the application to use RadScheduler I believe they would currently see this as a backward step in useability.

I hear you, David. Our developers will consider this scenario and decide what is the best solution. I'll keep you posted on any further development.

We would also like the RadScheduler to be able to drag to create appointments on a day view as described by David.  Ideally, we would prefer that when the mouse was released that it would go into the simplified edit mode that comes up when double-clicking to create an entry (rather than the detail appointment window) and when the entry is accepted it would result in the initial appointment with the start/end times of the drag action.  This would minimize the number of actions required to create an initial appointment of the desired duration.  Several other similar controls operate in this manner.  Thanks.

Hi Jim,

Thank you for your inquiry. We plan to expose such functionality in the future but currently we cannot say when it will be available.

I am also seeking this functionality. Has any release dates been set?

Hello,

We have logged this feature, but it probably won't make it for the upcoming Q1 2009. There is a good chance that we will be able to introduce it for Q2 2009 though.

Hi guys,

We haven't forgot about this nice feature, but we still haven't had a chance to implement it since it turned out to be complicated.

Kind regards,
Peter

Has this functionality ever been implemented.  I am looking for the click, drag, release, advanced form open like in Google Calendar, etc.  We are developing a scheduling application that needs to be compatible with iPad/Android devices, so the right click is not an option and the click and drag after creation is not easy and definitely less user friendly.

Thanks.

Hi Jeff,

Thank you for asking. No, it is not implemented yet, but I will add this request on our next agenda so it will get highest priority and will be reviewed by our development team.
