[Solved] RequiredFieldValidator causes slow performance

Hello,
I have a ComboBox with over 3,000 records which is bound to a generic list.  When the RequiredFieldValidator is used the page takes a long time to load when I remove the validator the page loads quickly.  Any way around this?  Why is this happening?

I tried the following code and could not reproduce the problem:

    ControlToValidate="RadComboBox2_Input"
    ErrorMessage="RequiredFieldValidator">
</asp:RequiredFieldValidator>

<input type="text" ID="RadComboBox2_Input" runat="server" style="display:none" value="test" />

<asp:Button ID="Button1" runat="server" Text="Button" />

protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
    if (!IsPostBack)
    {
        for (int i = 0; i < 3000; i++)
        {
            RadComboBox2.Items.Add(new RadComboBoxItem("item " + i.ToString()));
        }
    }
}
