We were using RadChatListView for MAUI with ObservableCollection<OurMessageModel> and DataTemplateSelector.
Up to Telerik 12 it worked perfectly (though many things were locked and we had to use reflections)
In late versions (14 and 15 tested) required functionality was added to interface, but now we experience huge perfomance issues (both Android and iOS):
- complex nested message templates jitter and freeze while scrolling (e.g. message with attachments, reactions, replies, etc). Was fine id Telerik 12.
- initial scroll down after ItemSource is set happens with a huge delay. In Telerik 12 it happened before UI drawing and user didn't notice anything.

For now we are downgrading back to 12, but hoping you could help us fix these issues.

The breaking change in the Chat control was introduced with Telerik MAUI 13.0.0 version:
Could you please send a sample app in which the issue happens? I want to test on my side and review the implementation. Also whether the issue happens in release or debug mode while testing the original app.

I've just created a testcase in GitHub:

It is intentionally heavily loaded.
You can switch between version 12 and newest in csproj file.
It demostrates the huge initial delay, initial jumpy and vissible scroll down; also version 12 is much smoother on scrolling.
