I have a Rad Grid that has a Command Item Template and allows grouping.  Currently the Group Panel sits on top of the Command Item Template, which seems kind of odd since it separates the things we are grouping from the grouping configuration.  We have to drag a column over the command item row, which, again, seems odd.

Is it possible to swap these two "items" around?

Thanks,
-Aaron

Hello Aaron,

It is not possible to swap the positions for the top CommandItem and the group panel of the grid due to the specific order of these elements in the grid rendering.

However, you may consider choosing MasterTableView > CommandItemDisplay = Bottom option along with grouping enabled for the grid. Thus the group panel will be displayed at the top and the command item will be output at the bottom of the grid.

Kind regards,
Sebastian

Hi Sebastian,
Thanks for the response.  It is unfortunate that this order cannot be changed.  I need both items on top of the grid, just flipped around.
Maybe there is simply more to it, but it just seems odd to me that they are rendered in the order that they are.
I think you should consider allowing the user to make the decision on which one comes first.

Thanks,
-Aaron

a vote from me too! I find it more logical to put the grouppanel just above the column headers.

Hi,

is there any update?

We need this too!

Why a "toolbar" will be displayed under the group panel? That makes no sence. Every application I've seen yet displays the toolbar as first element.
Is there any reason, why the group panel is the first element?

Ralf

Another vote for me.  Put the grouppanel above the column headers and below the commanditem.  At least make it an option.

By looking at the number of requests for this, would it be possible for an admin to create an official feature request in the PITS and add all our votes in it (and also share with us the URL of it)? Maybe it will be more visible to the Telerik development team. I get alot of feedback from my users for this and this should be relatively easy for Telerik to do IMO.

TIA

Martin
