What kind of changes do you guys think we'll see with .NET 4.0? I'm thihnking some of the new file reading, and viewstate features might lend some useful changes and/or additions.

Hello Rocky,

There is a very good series of blogpost by Scott Guthrie on .NET 4.0 and VS 2010:
http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/archive/2009/08/25/vs-2010-and-net-4-series.aspx

Needless to say, we are testing all Telerik products for compatibility with VS 2010 and .NET 4.0 since the very early builds. We now have full support for Beta 1 of VS 2010 and .NET 4.0 and you can expect full compatibility for the coming betas and official release.

Hi

I am currently downloading the VS2010 and .Net 4 Beta 2 releases. Do I also need to download the Beta of Telerk RadControls for compatibility? (This is just for testing, by the way).

Thanks

Rob

Hello Rob,

We are now testing all RadControls scenarios within VS 2010 Beta2 and .NET 4. There are no critical issues as of now and official compatibility will be announced with our Q3 release in a couple of weeks.

You can either use the latest internal build or the Q3 beta for now. The current official release (Q2 2009 SP1 -- version 2009.2.826) is fully tested with Beta1.

Kind regards,
Ivo

Hi Ivo

Thanks for that info. Just so I understand, can I run the Q3 Beta with .Net 4 ? It only appears to have .Net 3.5 assemblies listed in the installer. Or should I try the internal release?

The reason I am so keen is that I have a client who has asked for me to build URL redirection into his site, and as that is included in .Net 4, it avoids me having to reinvent the wheel!

Cheers

Rob

Hi Rob,

Yes you can run Q3 beta in VS2010 and .NET 4. The 3.5 assemblies are compatible with .NET 4.

In the coming months we will be also releasing 4.0-native DLLs which take advantage of new features in the new framework.

Kind regards,
Ivo
