I want to do something similar to what's demonstrated here: http://demos.telerik.com/aspnet-ajax/grid/examples/programming/multicolumnheaders/defaultcs.aspx but in reverse.

Meaning, I have a set of columns and then I want a 2nd line for that row and the column that's in the second line to span all columns.  See the attached image for a crudely drawn example of what we're trying to make happen.

Anyone have any ideas if it's possible with RadGrid?

I know this can probably be done with an ItemTemplate but was hoping there was an easier way to implement this on an existing grid.

Hello,

Unfortunately the grid does not provide option to define such type of layout out of the box. The limitation of the default Multi-Column header feature is that each upper multi-column header must span one or more column headers from the below level.
The other option in your case remains the templates of the GridTemplateColumn where you can define custom layout.
