Hi,

How would I keep track of Action Trails in RADEditor control. I need to display a comparison form of edits, additions and deletes of the content. How can this be achieved with RADEditor?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I realized that Track Changes Dialog is the way to go for this. However, I need to compare different contents from the database. Not just the user edits. How can I set the start content as Content 1 from DB and the one to compare (Content 2 from DB) as RADEditor's current content? Is this even possible.

Please advise a possible solution to my problem.

Hello BC,

I believe the following forum thread will be of help solving this case, please take a look at it:

Thank you very much Dobromir. The link you included did help to get going. However, I have another issue. When I used Diff Engine and compared, I'm having issues when same words exist in another paragraph after deleting one. Please find the screen shot of what I'm talking attached. In the image below, I deleted the entire first line/paragraph. When I clicked Show Diff, it showed me as the deleted paragraph partially striked off. Is this known behavior? If yes, is there a work around?

BTW, we are using Q3 2009.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
BC.

Hi BC,

This is expected behavior of the DiffEngine class - any content that is removed from the initial content is displayed as red striked-through text and any new added content is marked with a green background.

It is possible to modify the decoration that is applied to the removed / added content by modifying the CSS classes to match the required look.

Dobromir,

I understand the the styles can be modified using CSS classes and stuff. But my question was different. If you looked at the image I included in my previous post. What happened was, when I deleted the entire first line, only part of it was striked off and part of second line that has the same content as the first line was striked off which is not expected.

Let me know if this is confusing to you.
Thanks,
BC.

Hi BC,

Please accept my sincere apologies for the misunderstanding.

I tried to reproduce the problem using the default dialog but to no avail. Could you please open a formal support ticket and provide a sample project with the implementation of this functionality so we can examine it debug it locally?

In addition, are you able to reproduce the problem using the latest version of RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX (currently Q1 2011 SP1)?

Kind regards,
Dobromir

Hi Dobromir,

Yes, I was able to reproduce it in your online editor demo. Please find the track changes screen shot below with initial and current content. This was done in your online demo. Here is the current editor content for your testing purposes.

"Maintains a high level of knowledge and understanding of the current status and availability of
spatial . Uses existing conservation plans (Endangered Species Recovery Plans, Migratory Bird Plans)
to identify conservation targets and population objectives. For Bird conservation efforts, close
coordination with existing Joint Ventures within the Migratory Bird Program will be necessary to
enhance efforts and prevent duplication. Coordinates closely with the National Team, USGS
Gap Analysis Program, Natureserve, "

Hi BC,

Thank you for the provided additional information. After further testings I was able to reproduce the issue on our end. I have logged it into our database and we will do our best to have it fixed for one of the upcoming releases. Unfortunately, I am unable to provide a suitable workaround at this point.

Please excuse us for the inconvenience.

Greetings,
