Sirs:
I ran the samples for some weeks with no issues. I bought a 'premium' license today and it's all going bad.

I uninstalled the samples and that locked up my machine (but the 'uninstall' was gone on reboot)
I installed just one module - ASP.NET AJAX. It locked up my machine twice. On the third try it told me that it was already installed; and there was no 'repair' option that I see in a lot of installs.

The issue that I have right now is that the samples that were installed are now gone. I'd like to have them back to give me examples on how to code. Can anyone help me get the samples back?

Hello Steve,

From what I understand the machine was rebooted during the uninstall and the subsequent install attempts (correct me if I misunderstand). If that is correct then the installation is most probably damaged. Can you please check if the product is listed in the installed programs list through Control Panel | Add or Remove Program. If it is present try to repair it from there and let me know of the outcome.

Some additional information would prove useful. It would be helpful to know under what operating system the machine is running and the details of the lock up.

Best wishes,

The machine was locking up during the install... but I was trying to install from a network share.

I copied the install local and it suceeded.

But my local demos are failing now due to data access errors. How can I reinstall just the demos?

Hi Steve,

Here are some ways of reinstalling the demos:

  • The most common approach is to Repair the installation.
  • Another approach is to Modify the product installation. Start the setup and select the Change option. Then you will be allowed to customize the features you currently have. Disable the Examples feature then commence with the setup. If the wizard completes successfully the examples should be uninstalled so you will be able to repeat the procedure and re-enable them again and get fresh examples.
  • Reinstall the whole ASP.NET AJAX product.

Note: Changing or Repairing the product installation can be done by double-clicking on the installation file (or selecting the product from Control Panel | Add or Remove Programs) and choosing the according option.

I hope the information was useful.

Kind regards,
