I am having issues getting r.a.d.editor for MOSS functioning correctly in a farm environment. I have deployed the solution, but r.a.d.editor for MOSS will only work for lists and wiki’s on the server I deployed it from. I can however add it as a web part and it functions correctly no matter what web server am I on.

I even went so far as to uninstall the solution and redeploy it from a different server in my farm. After doing this r.a.d.editor for MOSS worked as expected on the server it was deployed from and exhibited the same issues on the other server that I stated above.

Any ideas on what I need to do to get r.a.d.editor for MOSS working for wiki’s and lists in a multi web server environment?

Thanks

Michael

Hi Michael,

When you activate the lists and wikis radEditor feature from the site collection features, we try to copy a file called RadEditorList.ascx from the feature folder, e.g.:

c:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\TEMPLATE\FEATURES\RadEditorFeature\

to the control templates folder

c:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\TEMPLATE\CONTROLTEMPLATES\

I suppose, that for some reason the RadEditorFeature folder might not be deployed on all servers in the farm. This means that you will need to copy the file to the control templates folder on each server in order to use the feature.

Looking at the deployment instructions for the editor, I also see that you will need to reset IIS after you activate/deactivate the feature in order to clear the MOSS cache. Are you doing this on all servers on the farm?

Thank you for reporting this issue, we will further look into it to see what is the exact cause.

Sincerely yours,

Thanks for the response.  I had done an IIS reset on all my web servers so that was not the culprit.

However you first suggestion was.  On my other web servers the RadEditorList.ascx file was not coppied to c:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\TEMPLATE\CONTROLTEMPLATES\ directory. After coppying the file to that location and running an IISRest, RADEditor started working for wikis and list.

Thanks
Michael
