IE8 cannot switch to HTML view

Hi, I have a problem with IE8: it's impossible to switch to HTML view.
The error is on ScriptResource.axd.

Hi Saggiatorius,

Please, note that RadEditor Classic does not support version 8 of Internet Explorer, because this browser was released 1.5 years after the latest version of RadEditor for ASP.NET. The development of RadEditor Classic was discontinued in favor of the new and much enhanced RadEditor for ASP.NET AJAX that offers full support of IE8. Migration instructions can be found in this article: Migration from RadEditor Classic to RadEditor for ASP.NET AJAX.

As to the reported problem: I am not aware of this error and I cannot reproduce it in the Default Example of RadEditor Classic. Are you able to reproduce it with the Default demo? Please, provide more information, sample content and steps on how to reproduce this problem on our side.

The provided information about the RadEditor version is helpful but still not enough to reproduce the problem.

Please, download and test the latest Q3 SP2 2009 version 2009.3 1314 of Telerik.Web.UI.dll and if the problem still persists, open a support ticket and send a sample working project that demonstrates the problem.

In the meantime, you can try to reproduce the problem in the Default Example of RadEditor for ASP.NET AJAX, which uses the latest version of the control.

The problem persists with demo application on the web (http://demos.telerik.com/aspnet-ajax/editor/examples/default/defaultcs.aspx).
It's strange that this problem doesn't occur on other client machines with the same version of IE8 (8.0.6001.18702).
I suppose it's a problem of browser settings (Internet Options) since the error says: Permission Denied.
I tried to set the same advanced and security settings of the working client machine, but it doesn't change.

Could you tell me please the settings that may prevent ScriptResource.axd to be executed?

Hi,

Is the editor fully functional in Design mode? Are you able to type in it, format the content and submit and save it to the server?

The problem is something specific to your IE browser? Do you have installed some add-ons on it?
My suggestion is to compare the Internet Explorer options of the working and not working IE browsers and see what the differences are.

Please also disable all antivirus, firewall or other programs on your PC that could block the javascript on the page?

The difference in my case is that it seems to be related to the content that the editor is populated with and I get the error when the Editor is first displayed in Design mode. The editor displays with no content and you cannot enter in text. Also you cannot select HTML mode. Preview and Design are selectable but don't show anything.

I was unable to reproduce the error with the provided content in a sample project running on my PC as well as in the live demos of RadEditor. Are you able to reproduce the problem in the Save in Database demo?

I noticed that there are elements with invalid URLs like this one "javascript:RTeCollector('PGUID=79031692') as well as JavaScript code <script>document.write("<a href=\"javascript:RTeCollector('PGUID=79031692')\">")</script> which could be the reason for the problem on your side. My suggestion is to remove them just for test and see whether the problem is due to them.

Has a resolution for this issue been found?  We are evaluating the RadControls for AJAX product and I am experiencing this issue in the Editor demo and in my own test code when using IE8 (version 8.0.6001.18702 on XP with latest patches).

Can you please temporary disable all programs installed on your PC that could block the JS files of RadEditor, e.g. antivirus, firewall, websense, etc and test again?

In your local test application, you can try to register manually the scripts of RadEditor as shown in this article and see whether this will fix the problem: Disabling embedded resources.
