We were having problems with our Q1 2009 telerik radeditor so I installed Q2 2009, file version 2009.02.0701.20. Now when the page loads with the radeditor it says, Campatibility View "a problem displaying duplimark.com caused Internet Explorer to refresh the web page using Compatibility View."

How can we make it not refresh into compatibility view?

Hi Mic,

We are not aware of this problem and you are the first to report it.

Do you experience this problem with the demo examples of RadEditor or with the previous Q1 2009 version of RadEditor? What is your DOCTYPE and is your page XHTML compliant? Please, try with the following one:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.1//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml11/DTD/xhtml11.dtd">

Have you downloaded and installed any new add-ons for IE?

Please, read the information below which provides information about potential culprits for the problem:

IE8 automatically shows a web page under Compatibility View under the following circumstances:
  • when the page is an intranet site (for example, on your own corporate network and not on the Internet);
  • when the page uses certain document type identifiers (a sort of invisible tag at the beginning of each web page) or fails to use one (or, in web jargon, the Compatibility View is triggered when the page uses a DOCTYPE that normally triggers the IE Quirks mode or when it fails to specify a DTD);
  • and, on occasion, for some other unfathomable, undocumented reason, on pages that are validated as standards-compliant (or, at least, it does this in Release Candidate 1).

If your website falls under one of the above categories, IE 8 will render the page in its IE7 mode. It may also pop up a tooltip with the words "A problem displaying [domain name] caused Internet Explorer to refresh the webpage using Compatibility View" to let the user know what it's doing (where "[domain name]" is your domain name).

The above information is taken from the following site: http://www.hackoo.org/main/

Kind regards,

The telerik demo pages work fine. But even after changing the doctype to the xhtml11 it still does the same thing. Any other ideas? I'm using the decorator on the same page, could that make a difference?

Yup, that was it! Removing the RadFormDecorator fixed the problem. It was suspicious when firefox wouldn't show the buttons on that page. Removing the decorator fixed firefox and now no need for compatibility mode.
