[Solved] IE7: Dragging a radWindow outside of bounds and release mouse

Hi

We have noticed a strange behaviour when you drag a window outside of a restriction zone, or outside of the browser window and release the left mouse button.  In this scenario, as the user moves their mouse back into the bounds, the window follows the mouse pointer until the left mouse button is clicked a second time.

To reproduce:

• Open the Rad Window Restriction Zone example here.  We used IE 7.
• Hold down your left mouse button on the top most window and drag the window upwards to the top of your browser window so that your mouse pointer is over the IE menus, address bars or tabs.
• Release your left mouse button while the mouse pointer is over the menu/tabs/address bar.
• Now move your mouse back inside of the restriction zone.  The window will continue to be dragged around until the mouse button is clicked again.

 

Is there any way to work around this problem?

Hi Paul,

This behavior is expected - when the mouse is over the browser's toolbar (or any ActiveX / Flash / IFRAME object / on the page) the mouse events are consumed by it and the RadWindow simply "don't know" when the dragging / resizing is finished. We are planning to improve that behavior by using timeouts but this will happen in one of the future updates - most probably in Q2 2009 next month.
