Hi There

Currently most of the application which are planning to automate is using teleric controls in the UI, and we do have "renorex" as the licensed version for Automation, when we tried automating the teleric grid, renorex failed to identify the UI, so we approached Renorex support team  and got to know that, renorex is good enough to identify Teleric controls provided "teleric controls" is implemented in a proper manner considering the accessebility option while development is done.

So we wanted to confirm with you guys also the same and if you have any other solution for us ? please help us on the same.

Another question of mine is that, if this fails, we are planning for QTP, before we finalise i would like to know, if teleric controls will be identified by QTP or not?

Waiting for the answer from you

Thanks a lot in-advance

Hi Dharnish,

Thank you for contacting us.

Complex components like RadControls couldn't be identified and supported out of the box by Renorex, QTP as well as any other testing tool. We are aware there is no automation tool outside Telerik that is fully supporting RadControls as users would expect. RadControls support is very important for us so that's why Telerik offers third-party solutions for more effective test automation:

1. The free Telerik Testing Framework which helps you automate AJAX, Silverlight and WPF applications using coded steps.
2. WebUI Test Studio which has the options to record, execute and debug functional tests with the Visual Studio environment.

Both solutions provide wrappers/translators for each RadControl. These are integrated adapters, specially designed for automatically identifying the control and expose it's API for the purpose of functional testing.
It is actually possible to test our controls with another automation testing tools, but as we are not providing wrappers/translators for them, it is rather expected additional adjustments to be needed.

This video is showing working with dynamically loaded elements using Test Studio, but the same concepts apply to any AJAX test regardless of the testing tool/framework. http://tv.telerik.com/watch/automated-testing-tools/ajax-working-with-dynamically-loaded-elements

I hope that answers your questions. Do not hesitate to write back if you have further inquiries.

Greetings,
Misho
