If I'm not mistaken, the only documentation available to VS2008 users is online or in a CHM file that has to be downloaded separately.
So we have to have 2 help readers open now, rather than one.

Actually, you have the Help2 files as well - more information on the subject can be found in this blog post. The download link can be found in your "product files" page, just below the link for the CHM documentation (screenshot attached).

Can I suggest, then, that the link is /also/ placed on this page as this is where the link for documentation that is installed on a VS2008 machine points too.
Just 'cos the user installed the software, it doesn't mean that they /ever/ visit the downloads page that you included in your reply.
