Hello Everyone; this is Harshad; & Im completely new to Telerik Family!!... (In fact I'm completely new to the World of Web Development, so I might ask few stupid questions out here....  ;D !!)..

Alright; so; currently I'm working on to develop a Web Application for Shop-Floor Scheduling Software, where in one can view the task allocated for either an employee or a machine.

I'm thinking of taking Telerik Scheduler as a main tool for Drawing the required Gantts of the task. But Gantts being the basic & the most important feature of application I need a tool which Very easy to operate & very much flexible as my Task Start & End Time Calculations are going to be fine tuned to Minute level & most important I need a stable tool.

Please advice me whether I should continue using Telerik Scheduler control or not.

Thanks & Regards

Hello Harshad,

RadScheduler might be just the tool you need. I suggest you review the online demos and decide for yourself if you can integrate RadScheduler in your application. The closest to gantt view is RadScheduler's Timeline View which is flexible and customizable to a great extent:

Let us know what you think.

Hi Peter,

Hope you are doing well.
I just wanted to confirm that you received the last message I had posted. I also had attached few images with it.
Is there any more information do you require?

Hi Harshad,

Thank you for sending screenshots. They helped us get  much better understanding of your requirements.

Upon reviewing the screenshots, I can say that RadScheduler is not the control which you need. While the Timeline view of RadScheduler resembles gantt view in some ways, it cannot be tweaked to match a fully functional gantt view.

We will certainly consider enriching our portfolio with a gantt view for the future, but for now, regretfully, I have to say that  our products' list does not offer a control suitable for your case.

     Hi Peter;

Thanks for your time in analyzing the snaps I had sent & understanding my requirements.

Well Peter; I got your reply but couldn't exactly figure out that where exactly do you feel that RadScheduler is incompatible for my project?
I mean if it is about the Graph in the 4th snapshot; then that is not an issue. I know that RadScheduler can't do that but my main concern is getting a Gantt. So where do you feel that I might face difficulties with RadScheduler in getting the features I have explained in Snap 2 & 3.

Actually Perter; I already had purchased a License of Telerik library earlier for some different purpose &  have used different tool of Telerik. So when I was assigned for developing this project; my first attention was on RadScheduler as I'm already having it.

I understand that RadScheduler is not exactly a Gantt but is more of like the Calender in Microsoft Outlook. So I always knew that I would have to do many changes at my end but being unaware of the Web Development & RadScheduler I don't know what kind of challenges I might come across. So can you please elaborate?

  Thanks & Regards

Hello Harshad,

I reviewed the presentation and I can say that some of the features that are required by your project are already planned. These include:
  • Multi-level headers
  • Exact appointment positioning
Others are available as of now, for example, independent styling of appointments and time slots (cells).

Some features can be achieved through customization. Progress tracking is a good example and should be reasonably easy to implement.

However, some GANTT specific features will be hard to implement in RadScheduler even by us - hierarchical tasks for example. In fact, we're more inclined to produce a separate GANTT control instead of trying to achieve everything with RadScheduler. This approach has a lot of technical advantages and will keep the development focused. This is just my take on the problem. Such control is not planned for now.

Sincerely yours,
