Hi All,

Does anyone know if it is possible to move the HeaderText set on the columns to be placed in side the group at the moment it defaults to show the HeaderText at the top of the whole grid but I would like that hidden and then only expose the column header text when a user expands a group and show it inside the expanded group, I have attached an image to try and explain.

Hope that makes sense

Thanks in advance.

Lee

Hi Lee,

You can go through the following help document which explains how to customize the group header text . This should help you achieve your scenario.
Customizing GridGroupHeaderItem

Hi Maria,

Sorry I am a bit confused I don't want to customise the display of the fields in a GridGroupHeaderItem I want to move its position to above each group as per my screen shot?

Hello,

Each GridTableView object contains a GroupHeaderTemplate and GroupFooterTemplate properties for specifying a template that will show inside each group's header and footer rows. You can use them to provide a more customized look for the group totals display.
See the demo below for more information on this matter:

Hi Maria,

I have same query as that of Lee's. I went through your suggestion of using 'GridGroupHeaderItem', but it won't serve my purpose. As i can add the Column Header below the Group Header. But it have many limitations:
1) Sorting won't work as it works for a default Column Header click.
2) On click of expand/collapse, entire group section appears along with the column header we added.

I suppose I was clear with my query, can you please help me with this. Thanks in advance.

Thanks and regards

Hello Debprotim,

Note that when you group by group filed the groups will be reorder and the grouping will disappear. The default sort functionality by clicking on the header works for non grouped grid.
As for the expanding issue you have described I'm not completely sure what exactly is the problematic behavior you are facing. Please elaborate a bit more and provide some screenshots so that we could advise you further.
