We have used radajaxpanel for pagination. On first pagination click the page is getting refreshed (instead of ajax call)  and on second/subsequent click it is performing ajax call. This issue is occuring in MOSS 2007 Environment

The same code/page is working properly in ASP.NET evnvironment. On first click it doesnt post and makes ajax call

Pls Help...

Hi Chanda,

Can you please make sure that the RadAjaxPanel is added to webpart's controls collection at webpart's init phase?

If you continue to experience difficulties please consider providing little more details such as your webpart's code.

Kind regards,

In continuation with the thread opened by Chanda...
To be more precise, we are infact using ASP.net custom controls (ascx files) as smart parts(ReturnOfSmartPart v1.2) in MOSS 2007.
And for Ajax, we are using RadAjaxmanager, which I believe, creates RadAjaxPanels based on the settings provided declaratively in the markup of the control.

When you say "RadAjaxPanel should be added to webpart's controls collection at webpart's init phase", does it mean that RadAjaxManger's settings should be done programmatically in control's init() event handler?

Also, is this a known/already reported issue of RadAjax in SharePoint environment? If yes, can you please provide the existing discussion threads around it.

Hi Ashish Kale,

When used in scenario like the one described I suggest you to add usercontrol's AjaxSettings inside UserControl's prerender event handler.

You may refer to this forum post for more information.

Hello,

The forum post whichyou have refered is working fine but we need to replace radajaxpanel with radajaxmanager. Is there any solution with radajaxpanel for MOSS 2007.

Thank you,

Chanda Malukani.

Hi Chanda,

In order to use the RadAjaxPanel with SmartPart you should subclass the SmartPart, override its OnInit method  and add call to EnsureChildControls. This will ensure that the AjaxPanels inside the UserControl are added earlier in page lifecycle. I have attached a small webpart which demonstrates a possible approach.

Please give it a try and let us know about the result.
