I have just tried it out.
I got the message "It is not possible to combine Web Service Binding and Filtering".
Hope this will save some time from anybody that might have a similar question.

Hi Giorgos,
To work the filtering and the web service binding the response of the web service should be hierarchical data and now it is not possible to be integrated with the current implementation(flat structure is returned). This is part of our future plans for the control.
