Hi,

In the old rotator control, I was able to set TransitionEffect="GradientWipe", and this had the effect of transitioning between my various 'slides' with a nice fade.  The thing to note is that during the fade, I could see both slides.  It appeared as though they literally transitioned from one to the other.

I want to achieve the same effect with the new rotator control, but the best I can come up with is RotatorType="slideShow" and SlideShowAnimation-Type="fade".  But this has the effect of cutting to white and fading in the next slide from white.  I want the next slide to fade in from the previous slide like the old control did.  How can I achieve this?  I could not see how to from the live demos.

Hi Darlene,
The animation you refer to is not yet implemented in RadRotator for ASP.NET AJAX. This feature is on our TODO list and we will do our best to implement it for SP1, scheduled for the last week of August.

Just wanted to second that request for GradientWipe. I use that transition exclusively on my site, and I like it because I use a background image with it and even though the transition is "changing" the background image to the same image on each frame, you don't see that change and only the actual images/text that are apart of each frame change.  ( http://www.singingfool.com/ )

I tried the new version today and had to roll back since I didn't like the Pulse or Fade transition when using a background image. The background image would fade for every frame which I don't want.

Looking forward to SP1.

I just started using the Rotator control and this is exactly the functionality that I am looking for.  I have the latest version of the control and I don't see this option.  Has it been implemented?  If so, what properties do I need to set to use it?  If not, is it still on the enhancement list and when do you expect it to be implemented?

Thanks.

Hi Dan,

I am afraid this animation hasn't been implemented. Our research showed that this exact effect is currently possible to implement only with IE filters - i.e. the effect will not work when viewed with other browsers. That is why we decided not to include the effect until we find an appropriate solution that would produce same result in all major browsers.

Hello Kmv,

In my last reply I pointed that this animation is currently possible only with IE filters and the effect will not work when viewed with other browsers. You can test it on this web site under different browsers.
Our controls need to be fully compatible with all of the major browsers and we made decision to not implement that animation.

All the best,
