When I try to add a word to the dictionary I'm getting a dialog box pop up with a 403 forbidden error, suggesting I check some SpellCheckHandler Configuration doc for Rad 3.x.

Please advise.

I'm running WSS3.0 with MOSS 2007 for Search which isn't full blown MOSS 2007....

Thanks

ok, this is odd.. it seems to be ok now.  Will repost if I experience the issue again.  I believe another network admin may have been in the process of doing something else on the server at the same time as my testing which may have caused the problem.

Apologies

We are experiencing this issue again.  Any help on what this error may mean would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

Hi Donna,

Usually, the 403 error occurs if the user does not have read permission for the editor support files (located at \Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\wpresources\RadEditorSharePoint\4.5.4.0__1f131a624888eeed\RadControls\). Please try to reset the permissions for the RadControls folder so that everyone has the right permissions.

Kind regards,

Hi Stanimir

Can you just clarify, does each individual user on our network using the RAd Editor Lite in SharePoint need read permission on the directory (eg a domain users type group say) or is it the generic 'MOSS Service account' user who needs the access?

Hello Donna,

SharePoint uses impersonation rights of the currently logged user. What happens when an user tries to add new word to a dictionary is actually modifying the corresponding dictionary file, which most likely is located in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\wpresources\RadEditorSharePoint\4.5.4.0__1f131a624888eeed\RadControls\Spell\TDF folder. So what you need to make sure of is that every user has read and write permissions for the dictionary file and at least read permissions for the directory holding the file.

I hope this helps.

we have a farmed environment and are finding that the custom dictionaries differ across all our severs.  Is there any way the location of the custom dictionary/all dictionary files can be configured in the application so we can set up a single repository to store this data?

Hi Donna,

You can try setting the SpellDictionaryPath using the ConfigFile.xml or ListConfigFile.xml, which are located in the Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\wpresources\RadEditorSharePoint\4.5.4.0__1f131a624888eeed\RadControls\Editor\.
For example:
<property name="SpellDictionaryPath">your path</property>

I hope this helps.

Hi kruti,

If you think that this error is related to the RadEditor for MOSS you can deactivate the features, which control the enabling of the control. However if you are not using the RadEditor for MOSS may by you need to address your question in some MOSS related forum.

Best wishes,
