Displaying Thumbs for images

It's nice to double click on the image then displaying a preview in window, but I suggest to provide an new feature that enables showing thumbs [thumbnails].. is that possible??

Hello all,

The ability to replace the RadGrid with pluggable file listers/previewers that allow for different Views is one feature that we plan to develop in RadFileExplorer in the future. Such a useful feature will definitely be implemented, but at this point I am not able to provide you with ETA or more details, because at this point more reseach is needed how to do it in an easy-to-use manner as well as keeping backwards compatibility to all the public API's.

We are coming from FCK incl. CKFinder and currently implementing RadEditor. Showing thumbnails in the FileExplorer is definitely one of the (very few :-)) shortcomings of the Telerik product.

Hi,

The feature is still not implemented in the FileExplorer control. For now, we have a number of examples which show how to create a preview area for images - http://demos.telerik.com/aspnet-ajax/fileexplorer/examples/default/defaultcs.aspx. If you do not wish to see the grid, you can disable it and set ExplorerMode="FileTree" and put the preview area in its place.

Hi,

Is there any progress on this issue? We switched to Telerik in our CMS, our customers are used to use CKFinder which provides a more datalist approach of showing the pictures as a thumbnail. We are talking about 8000+ images in a directory. Is it possible to create a workaround where the DataGrid in the FileExplorer can be replaced by a DataList?

Please inform, this is rather a serious issue for us.

In reference to your questions:

• For the time being thumbnail preview feature is not implemented in RadFileExplorer, but we will do our best to implement it for one of the next releases of the control.
• The embedded grid cannot be replaced with other control and for the time being we do not plan to change this behavior
