I have a photo gallery page where the initial state is there is no photos. I am trying to figure out how to show the insert item template view by default rather than the EmptyDataTemplate. When I set InsertItemPosition in the NeedDataSource event it appears to have no effect except when I set the EmptyDataTemplate to null. Seems like a hack to me?
Any thoughts on why this isn't working?

Hello Colinbo,
Indeed I was able to observed the described behavior. However I'm happy to inform you that our developers has managed to address the issue in question. Thus the fix will be included with SP1 of Q3 2009 RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX, scheduled for the mid December. Meanwhile you may check the next internal build, which should contains the fix too. I have also updated your telerik point as a token of gratitude for bringing this to our attention.

@Rosen -- When you say internal build do you mean 2009.3.1129 or the next one? I just pulled down 1129 and the problem doesn't appear to have been resolved.

Hi Colin,
The issue has been addressed today and it should be available with the next internal build (in a couple of days).
The build you are refering to is from yesterday.
