Hi there,

We have an application that uses a custom skin. I'm working on updating the Telerik tools used by the app (again: Q2 2008 to Q2 2010 SP2) and am running into a huge issue with our custom skin. It appears that no skin is being applied to any of the controls. I review the Changes and backward compatibility doc but didn't find anything that jumped out as an obvious deal-breaker.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Steve

Hi Steve,

As stated in the page that you have mentioned, we changed some RadControls CSS classes in Q1 2009. Here is some more information:

http://blogs.telerik.com/tervelpeykov/posts/09-03-20/using_pre-q1_2009_skins_with_q1_2009.aspx

http://www.telerik.com/community/forums/aspnet-ajax/general-discussions/all-radcontrols-q3-2008-skins-are-now-compatible-with-the-q1-2009-release.aspx

There are also help articles, which explain how CSS classes have been renamed, e.g.:

http://www.telerik.com/help/aspnet-ajax/grdcreatingnewskins.html
http://www.telerik.com/help/aspnet-ajax/appearance-skin-migration.html

However, I recommend you to create you custom skin once again instead of converting the old custom skin - I assure you that starting from scratch will be easier. A lot of time has passed since Q1 2009 and a lot of additional features have been implemented, which have led to new additions in the skins. A simple migration will still require you to make further changes to the CSS code, because there will be some missing styles, which are present only in up-to-date skins. Please refer to:

Kind regards,
Dimo
