At times if a user is entering content into the editor, applies formatting and then hits the undo button, at times it causes IE 11 to crash. This causes them to close IE and restart the app. This does not happen all of the time but it does happen. What would cause IE to crash by clicking the undo button?

    Hi there,

We are not aware of such cases in the past years and we will need reliable reproductions steps so that we can and reproduce the problem.

What you can do is to hide the Undo/Redo buttons from the toolbar of RadEditor, which will automatically disable the built-in Undo and Redo functionality of the control and enable the browser's one. This could help.

Other suggestion is to test with the latest R1 2019 SP1 version of the suite since it provides official support for all latest browser updates.

Make sure that the browser runs in native, but not in compatibility mode too.

I can do the steps 20 times and never see it, one of my users can do the steps 20 times and it happens 3 times. We have the web app running in IE 9 mode due to the control doesn't work in IE 11 in general, other issues take place and it was recommended to run it in IE 9 mode, as for updating, that's not happening due to reasons

Thank you for the extra details!

In such case you can try to remove the Undo and Redo buttons and see whether this improves the behavior.

Also see what is differently on your customer's machine? There might be plugins, antivirus, proxy servers or other things that may break the browser.

Note that IE9 is no longer supported by Microsoft and it is recommended to migrate to some of the modern browsers which have better JavaScript engines than IE9.

The machines are the same and so are the browsers. Agreed ,IE 9 is no longer supported, however, if I run the app in native IE 11 the controls fail in general, nothing works, user gets stuck on the modal, etc and I can't update the controls to a new version.

What is the version used in your app and if it is not a secret what is the reason for not being able to upgrade?

The upgrade is very recommended having in mind that each new browser release introduce regressions in the JavaScript API and we make sure that they are resolved in the upcoming builds of the suite.
