Can I manually populate a DropDownColumn?

With the radComboBox I simply add RadComboBoxItems inside an <Items> </Items> tag.
The DropDownColumn does not appear to have such syntax....

Must I attach it to a datasource or can I manually add items?
My other option is to use a RadComboBox inside of a template column.
