Alternating chart plot area

Is there a way to make the ChartPlotArea in an alternating way?

Example: That every 2nd row is white

We have a feature request covering this scenario:

Is it possible to change the plot area background color in an alternating way

I see you already voted for it and you can also follow in (in case you haven't) to receive email notifications on status updates. This is the best way to keep in track with the progress of the feature as once we know which release will contain its implementation, we will update its status in the feedback portal and you will be notified via email accordingly.

There have been some updates related to this request - initially, we considered that this result can be achieved with the Plot bands feature. However, after some discussions with the team, we have decided it is better to support such functionality out of the box and allow alternating background coloring of the plot area. Please share your thoughts in the public post on which units you'd prefer target when altering the background - major, minor or custom steps.
