How does a user go about adding an image (via URL)?

Hi,
You should try the new Insert Image dialog which offers the ability to insert an image by specifying its URL. See this demo for more information: http://demos.telerik.com/aspnet-ajax/editor/examples/xhtmlvalidatortrackchangesformatcodeblockdialogs/defaultcs.aspx
