RadControls for Silverlight 3 now available

Silverlight 3 Beta for developers was unveiled at MIX09 last week. We created a separate build of Telerik RadControls for Silverlight3. Download the bits here (it is available in your client.net account under Downloads > RadControls for Silverlight > Latest Internal Builds). There are no new features to the controls, only that they are compiled against the Silverlight 3 runtime. You can download the controls now and enjoy the latest features added to the Microsoft Silverlight3 platform. Please note that Silverlight3 is a developer beta release only! This means there is no “go-live” licensing available and the end-user runtime of Silverlight 3 is not available. If you have any feedback on what you would like...

Working with WCF Web Services in Silverlight, a headache/solution approach

So if you’re like me, you’re on board with Silverlight and looking to get the most out of your RIA development.  I’ve taken all the advice offered for creating Silverlight apps with WCF services- this video by Tim Heuer has been indispensable, but now we can create a Silverlight Enabled WCF service to avoid the modifications in web.config. When working on an application recently, I was somewhat confused by the error I received after deploying to my local friendly IIS server on the network: HTTP/1.1 500 Internal Server Error Date: Wed, 11 Mar 2009 20:37:29 GMT Server: Microsoft-IIS/6.0 X-Powered-By: ASP.NET X-AspNet-Version: 2.0.50727 Cache-Control: private Content-Type: text/xml; charset=utf-8 Content-Length: 734   Content-Length:...

    RadChart for Silverlight

Mid March is coming and there are a lot of good news for our Silverlight controls to be shared with all of you – the 2009 Q1 release is near. Along with the official version of RadGridView, RadDocking, RadEditor CTP and a bunch of new features and improvements, RadChart for Silverlight is also coming into play. With the 2009 Q1 release we'll introduce 2D charts for Silverlight that share the same appearance and behavior as their counterparts in WPF. This is due to the fact that both of the suites share common codebase and API. I’m sure the next question will be...

Telerik announces the RadToolBar for Silverlight.

With the upcoming Q1 release Telerik will include an official version of the RadToolBar control in the RadControls for Silverlight bundle. RadToolBar will mimic the functionalities and behavior of the VS toolbar with its Strip and Overflow areas.  All the items in the toolbar will jump between the strip and the overflow depending on the toolbar’s size. In addition, the developer will be able to stick items into one of these areas using a single property  - OverflowMode. RadToolBar will also support Style Selector for item containers. We pre-defined styles for many of the regular controls – button, textbox , combobox and expander. Along with...

    Announcing RadEditor for Silverlight CTP

We are very excited  to announce that our Q1 release will feature a CTP edition of Telerik RadEditor for Silverlight. This initial version will support the most basic set of features but you can rest assured that there is a lot more cooking. RadEditor integrates three of our new controls for Silverlight – RadToolbar, RadToobarTray and RadColorPicker. The first two will give you fine-grained control over the positioning of the elements you choose to insert in your editor. The customizable RadColorPicker is used for choosing font and highlight colors and offers a well-known tool to end-users. Below you can find a non-exhaustive list of the initially supported...
