Hi,

Can the WPF report viewer be used with the WCF service?  If so is there any example code for this?

Thanks,
Rob

Hi Rob,

Thank you for your interest in Telerik Reporting and your suggestion.

Currently the WCF Service can be used only for the Silverlight Web Viewer. We would have your suggestion in mind when working on subsequent versions of the product. However currently it is not in our immediate plans to change the WPF Report Viewer to use the Telerik Reporting WCF report service and we cannot engage with a timeframe for such functionality.

Sincerely yours,
Peter

Has this been changed? I have to use WPF so can you suggest a workaround. I need the reports at the server side so I need a way to access and render the server side reports on the client.

Would appreciate any help you can give me.

I would like to know actual information about subject. We need to use WPF ReportViewer, which will show reports from WCF service. May be we could use Silverlight ReportViewer control in our WPF application?

Hi,

I have found this article http://forums.silverlight.net/t/1178.aspx/1 that discuss the Silverlight control in a WPF application topic.

However you can consume the report data from a WCF service but let WPF report viewer to generate reports. This is shown in http://blogs.telerik.com/blogs/posts/10-10-22/using-telerik-reporting-with-wcf-ria-services.aspx

I have had the Silverlight report viewer working with the WCF service but now I need to use the WPF report viewer. Do I need to stop using the WCF report service and start using the REST report service?

Thanks

Russell

Hello Russell,

WCF report service can be used by the Reporting Silverlight ReportViewer control only.
WPF Report Viewer can use its embedded reporting engine or connect to Reporting REST service/Report Server.
For more detailed information you can check the following help articles:
