I need to display formatted (bold, italic, color and font) text in a single report field.

I see that in the UI for silverlight suite there is a richtext WYSIWYG editor.  I also see that reports supports an HTML textbox.

I currently have letters in RTF that I need to render in the reports, but there seems to be no RTF textbox for reports.

So I have a delimea, ideally I could use an RTF Textbox for reports, as a second choice I need an HTML WYSIWYG silverlight UI editor,
and thats assuming I can convert my existing RTF to HTML.

There are other 3rd party HTML silverlight editors, but I would rather use RTF, and I'd rather deal with only one vendor.

Is there any way to render RTF in a report?

Do you have an HTML silverlight editor?

Hi Kenneth,

Merging already existing documents into reports is not supported. If you read the RTF document content and convert it into HTML, you can display it in an HtmlTextBox item within the report. Note the HtmlTextBox item supports only text formatting options - the full list of supported HTML tags and CSS attributes is available in the HtmlTextbox article.

To ease the reading of the RTF document and its conversion to HTML, you can use format providers for the Silverlight RadRichTextBox. The recommended settings for better compatibility with Telerik Reporting are listed in the Import/Export Settings article.

While investigating the silverlight richtextbox editor I see it has a mail merge feature.  That is interesting.  What I am trying to do is have business letter templates that the user can merge with client data to print and mail to the client.  So I assume the richtextbox can mail merge to create multiple copies of the letter...if it can print them out also then I do not need the reportveiwer as I originally planned (for this anyway, I use it for normal reports).

So can the silverlight richtextbox be used in this way, to batch create and print letters to clients?

Hello Kenneth,

There is a good demo video on the RadRichTextBox mail merge functionality: Using the Mail Merge Feature of RadRichTextBox.
If you need further information, please check the Mail Merge Example forum thread, or post a new thread in the UI for Silverlight forum.
