I am trying to build a Web Form page to use to test my new report.  But when I drag the ReportViewer control from the toolbox over to my page I am getting this error:

The operation could not be completed. Invalid FORMATETC structure.

Any ideas?
Thanks.

Hello Dan,

This error is not related to our Reporting product. Looking at some blog posts, I've found a few suggestion that help get pass it:
  • http://www.c-sharpcorner.com/UploadFile/mahesh/IFSError09112008132606PM/IFSError.aspx

So far unable to resolve this.

Don't know if it is related, but both my RadControls for ASP.NET (Q2 2008) and my RadControls for ASPNET AJAX (Q2 2008) have disappeared completely from the toolbox!

Not sure how to get them back other than to download and install the newer versions??

I was able to remove the "Invalid FORMATETC structure" error by rebuilding my web.config file.  I can now insert a ReportViewer from the toolbox.

I'm still not sure why all of my RadControls disappeared from the toolbox???  It seems that this may have occurred when I installed Telerik Reporting???

Hello Dan,

You are correct and this is due to the fact that the RadControls suite did not add its controls to the toolbox in the "official way", which is now fixed since Q1 2009. However if you do not wish to upgrade to the latest version, you do not have to reinstall, simply follow the steps from this KB article and mind the assembly names which you would add.

All the best,
